My social theory class, which originally scared me because I was afraid I would not know what was going, is turning out okay. Besides the endless reading he assigns, I am actually looking forward to the class. I made conversation today in class and related it back to the film The Fever.
Now I am a bit afraid of my Museum class. Everyone in the class seems to have museum experience or a lot of teaching experience. We will see, seems like a lot of good projects.
But without fear you can not move forward.
On a side note: why do some people think they are the center of attention at all times? I am talking about these people who always talk, interrupt, ask stupid questions...
Am I one of these people and not even know it...do these people know they do it. What is the best way to attack the problem to find a solution?
Unfortunately, don't I have much to say. I am exhausted my tank is on empty but I think things will be looking up from here.
Hi Courtney, I agree about Social Theory! I think that class will be really hard but potentially really awesome. I was bummed that we never got to do introductions in that class since I know so few of the first year students, but luckily I get to see you in Cyberped! -Meredith
ReplyDeleteDon't be hesitant to share in classes, Courtney. It might seem like other folks have lots of experience, but your perspective and experience is important to making the class a true collaborative experience. When I started grad school I used to walk out of classes worried about what people would think of me, or whether I just wasn't getting it, but when I finally decided to say screw it to all that and just speak my mind, I got so much more from the conversations and experiences because I felt engaged in the class. Hope you get to rest up and refuel before classes this week.
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Always speak up! And definitely irritating people don't always know they're bugging you-- I'll tell you from my point of view, as someone who grown-ups seem to generally find annoyingly energized, I can never understand why everyone else isn't talking too. :) it's so good to hear EVERYONE's ideas.
